DISSOLVED SOUNDWAVES
10:47○ LYRICAL GENIUS pt.1 ○
Recently I've been told, I have quite a specified taste of music- I like my soundwaves a specific sort of sexy. And as much I would like claim to be a diverse music lover, I think my Spotify playlist would testify against that, the majority of tracks being along the line of Indie-rock/pop and mainly Christian RnB. I mean don't get me wrong, here and there might me a splash of some reggae or dubstep...even grime lol ((I lied)). But I'm not only open to check out anything, but I want to expand my musical taste- even jazz?¿?//¿¿
However this post isn't centred on the the aesthetic feel of the songs, no no no, we're going to dig a lil' deeper than that. I feel like there is a fault in our generation, something in which I too am guilty...in many respects. And this fault is the strong emphasis we, as humans, specifically teens, place on the superficial- as I said I too am guilty of this. "er well surely fashion is founded on pure superficial grounds", yeah sure that is definitely true to some extent. But it's also about expression, just like how you talk a certain way or write, or sing, or dance orshi, you get my point.
But yes, back to the main point, music. I am a big lover of songs with a deeper lyrical content, as well as the actual sound. Next few 'Lyrical Genius' segments will hone in on the lyrical aspect of songs I find and like. The first band being a gem.

LITTLE COMETS ☄
Ok so, this band. Ok.
One of the many things I love about Little Comets is the fact that not all their songs are one dimensional chatter about that one special girl. I mean who doesn't appreciate songs about unrealistic unconditional love but really aren't there other topics to address? Songs don't have to go in one direction...its all alilbit predictable. Nonetheless ultimately I understand why most mainstream
artists do take that route; it is hard to merge serious or even just political
topics with music in a tasteful way. But that is exactly what little comets
manage to do so well. They have a special knack for conveying their message,
whether it be playful or thoughtful, in an engaging and really interesting
style.
Songs:
Violence out tonight
This song addresses the topic of rape, and they do so in
such a tactful, delicate and creative way. They express genuine empathy towards
the victims of such a debilitating crime through just the lyrics and it's
incredibly refreshing.
Salt
One of their relatively new songs, at first I really didn't
like it. But some songs have this really unique talent of sounding really shite
the first time you give them a listen, and immensely dope the second time you
play it. Same situation here. The song tells the story of a little boy name
Daniel Pelka who was starved, force-fed salt and beaten for months before he
died in March 2012, hence the title being called salt. Beautiful song, sad
story.
They also have some really playful tracks, its not all serious stuff (e.g.Dancing song, One night in october, Worry etc). Check it out if you like, and thanks for reading my dear.
God bless.
Teaday xo
